For a small company, there are options that will make you do your payroll. QuickBooks allow you to do payroll manually, you just have to turn it on and following are the steps on how to do it.
First, you have to go to Help on the QuickBooks bar, and choose QuickBooks Help. Manually type the words, calculate payroll manually. Certain topics will display and you should click on Calculating payroll taxes manually.
An information box will open and you should read this thoroughly. After the information, a sentence that says, “Set your company file to use the manual payroll calculations setting.” Click on Manual Payroll Calculations, and another window will open. You may then click on Set my Company file to use manual calculations and if you wish to continue click on those words to go on. This turns on your manual payroll processing.
Payroll checks and other payroll functions that had been turned off on your QuickBooks system can now be available for your use.
You can set-up your payroll items, employees and process payroll the same way as when you have a subscription, the only difference here is that you must calculate all taxes manually.
Regrettably, you can not print out payroll tax forms using the manual payroll you have created. However, the information can easily be found in QuickBooks Payroll Reports, yet you have to prepare those entries manually in an on-line reporting system.
