QuickBooks run slowly in multi-user mode

When operating with QuickBooks Desktop over the web or with a large company file, you may encounter certain types of performance problems relating to slowness, taking a lengthy time to open, or other related behavior. It is important to recognize the different kinds of performance errors that can occur:

  • Getting a long time to open the data.
  • Company file tasks slow down as the number of users increases (multi-user conditions).
  • Company file works fine in the morning and slows down as the day proceeds.
  • Administration issues for everybody in the office.
  • Management errors for only one or two people in the department.
  • Alternate performance difficulties (individual tasks are fast, while others are slow).
  • Related data errors in various data files, symbolizing that the network is damaging your company data files.

How to fix this error:

QuickBooks recommends three solutions for solving performance difficulties within QuickBooks. The first clarification may resolve your issue, or you may need to try all options to determine the problem. For best outcomes, perform the answers in the given order.

Note: Make sure that your QuickBooks is up-to-date with the latest release.

Solution 1 – Build a backup file to reset the .TLG file and resource lists.

Building an original backup file can assist improve performance in QuickBooks because it resets the .TLG file (transaction log file) used to pursue changes to the company file before they transcribed to the database.

  • While in the record, open the File menu > Backup Company, and select Create Local Backup folder.
  • Choose Local Backup and click on Options.
  • In the Tells us where to save your backup examples, choose your Desktop (or different local location).
  • Assure that a Complete Verification is decided and click OK.
  • Choose to Save it now and click next. In the Save Backup Copy window, select your Desktop (or another local location) and click Save.

QuickBooks will now generate a backup file to your computer’s desktop.
Solution 2 – Decrease Company File Bits and perform Disk Defragmentation.

Although your company file is limited to the desktop (from solution 1), create and rebuild a compressed file.
Note: Building/Restoring a compressed file will help to decrease file bits in the company file, which may contribute to improving performance.

After building/restoring a compressed file, perform a disk defragmentation (if your case has established a system, go to the server PC).

Note: If the computer is applying a Solid State Drive (SSD), do not operate a disk defragmentation.

Check if Your Computer is operating Solid State Drive (SSD).

For Windows 10

  • Press the window logo from the keyboard.
  • Insert Optimize and agree on Defragment and Optimize Drives.
  • The Optimize Drives window begins.
  • The Media variety column tells you if your computer is working SSD or HDD.

For Windows Vista/7/8/8.1

  • Go to local disk drive C:\ and right click on it.
  • Click on the Tools and then click on the Optimize.
  • The Optimize Drives window begins.
  • The Media variety column tells you if your computer is working SSD or HDD.

 

a.) Choose the Start button and select All Programs, then choose

Accessories > Systems Tools > Disk Defragmenter.

b.) Select the defragment option, and follow the guidance that appears on the screen to defragment your hard-drive.

Note: The defragmentation method may take some time to complete. You can start it and then continue below to the next solution if it is holding a long time.
